Discover Age-Appropriate Play and Development at The Canopy NYC

At The Canopy NYC, we believe in nurturing growth and imagination through thoughtfully designed spaces and activities tailored to every stage of early childhood.

From tummy time to creative play, our engaging environments and supportive community empower children to thrive while offering parents and caregivers meaningful connections and resources. Explore the perfect blend of fun, learning, and discovery for ages 0-4 years.

Tiny Explorers: 0 - 6 Months

This stage is all about discovering the world through sight, sound, and touch, with bonding setting the foundation for growth.

Your baby can enjoy soft mats for tummy time, leaf play gyms for cognitive stimulation, sensory toys, and mirrors to encourage development. Caregivers and parents can relax in the Lactation Lounge, join a baby-wearing dance class, sign up for an infant massage workshop, and participate in our postpartum support group to connect with others.

Class recommendations:

Curious Crawlers: 6- 12 months

Babies are becoming mobile, exploring their surroundings, and developing their first motor skills, from crawling to standing.

Your baby can explore our interactive toys, bounce in the jumperoo, swing in our coconut swings, check out our magnet wall, use our soft-play structures, and giggle in our foam pit for sensory exploration. Babies can learn through our sensory play classes. Caregivers can join baby-wearing dance classes for bonding and fitness in a fun, welcoming environment.

Class recommendations:

Cruisers & Walkers 12-18 months

Little ones take their first steps, gain confidence in walking, and begin testing their independence while learning about cause and effect.

For little ones taking their first steps, The Canopy NYC offers climbing structures, push-and-pull toys, and soft tunnels to explore. Magnatiles are super popular at this stage. Our baby and me yoga classes are perfect for caregivers looking to connect while supporting their child’s motor development. Babies can enjoy sensory classes and music.

Class recommendations:

Little adventurers: 18 - 24 months

Toddlers refine their walking skills, explore their environment with curiosity, and begin forming words to express their thoughts

Toddlers thrive in spaces designed for discovery. Imagination-based playhouses, ponycycles for ride-along play, and beginner climbing activities ensure endless fun. Socialize with other families during open play and music sessions.

Class recommendations:

Imaginative builders 24 - 36 Months

Creativity blossoms as toddlers engage in pretend play, build more advanced motor skills, and expand their social interactions with peers.

Older toddlers enjoy larger climbing equipment, play in the space shuttle, the veterinary clinic, the Canopy Cafe playhouse, and the Cottage. The foam pit and creative play stations offer opportunities for sensory and motor skill development. Caregivers can participate in engaging classes and community events.

Class recommendations:

Little dreamers: 36 - 48 months

Preschoolers embrace creativity and collaboration, developing problem-solving skills and a growing sense of independence through playful learning.

For preschoolers, storytelling hours, ponycycles, and tunnels provide imaginative play opportunities. The Canopy NYC supports their growing independence with activities tailored for fun, learning, and social interaction.
